BASIC MOUNTAINEERING COURSE
Basic Mountaineering course is a foundation course in what people are started into mountaineering.
The BMC aims to:
1. Introduce Leave No Trace principle.
2. Theoretical and practical aspects of mountaineering and its allied subjects, like
A. Map reading, and Land navigation
B. Ropemanship - System familiarization, knot tying and application, rope transfer and rope rescue.
C. Camp selection, backpacking, tent pitching, hammock set-up, improvise shelter using tarp.
D. Improvisation and Survival - familiarization of different survival tools, hypothermia wrap, improvise stretchers, and 10cs of survival.
E. Learn High Angle Rescue.
3. To educate the right attitude amongst the trainees enabling them to view mountaineering as an art and not just a physical or adventure activity.
4. To edify principles of first aid, splinting, bandaging and introductions to tropical medicine.
5. To upskill aspiring Environmental Advocates and Furture Volunteers.
